The OJD Management Plan 2013-18 is industry driven and funded. It is the culmination of extended consultations between WoolProducers Australia (WPA), Sheepmeat Council of Australia (SCA), state departments of primary industry and other stakeholders.
It incorporates knowledge from a comprehensive research and development program managed by Meat and Livestock Australia and reflects the views of producers who participated in the review of the previous plan.
The program is coordinated by Animal Health Australia (AHA) to ensure the response to Johne’s disease by jurisdictions and industries continues to protect Australia’s favourable Johne’s disease status and reduces the impact of disease and control measures on the affected industries.
A Sheep Health Project Steering Committee comprising representatives from WPA, SCA, other key stakeholders nominated by the national sheep industry, and AHA meets twice a year to monitor and oversee the program.
